Welcome!

I am pleased to announce that at the Board of Education meeting Thursday evening, Mr. George Chidiac was approved as Superintendent of Schools to lead the Stafford Township K-6 School District beginning July 1, 2013. He replaces Dr. Judith DeStefano-Anen who is retiring on June 30.

After a lengthy search and interview process, the Board selected Mr. Chidiac because we are confident that he will build on what we have established here in Stafford, while bringing innovative ideas to grow student achievement, staff expertise, and community involvement.

Mr. Chidiac has served as Principal of Barnegat’s Joseph T. Donahue (K-5) School for the pastfive years, and has also worked as Vice Principal, Supervisor of Special Education, and he was a teacher for ten years. As Principal, he has worked closely with teachers and families and he looks forward to forging these relationships here in Stafford.

I hope you will join us in welcoming him to our district and that you will support him in his efforts as our new educational leader.

June is the perfect time to celebrate all that we have accomplished during the school year. From our youngest students who have finished their first year with us, to the familiar faces at the Intermediate School who are now leaving our district, and all of the students in between, I congratulate you on all that you have achieved during the school year.

For all of the parents and guardians who want to know what their children can do during the summer months to maintain what they have learned, we encourage your children to keep reading during the summer months, because as you know, the more a child reads the better reader they become. In addition, Study Island (www.studyisland.com)and Everyday Math Games (www.everydaymathonline.com)are wonderful resources that enable students to practice the reading and math skills they have learned during the school year.

Once again, I offer my congratulations to the students on their accomplishments and wish all of our families a safe and enjoyable summer.
